Biographical Data:

Born Aug. 3, 1824 at Bourg-de-Thizy, Rhône (69025). Died Dec. 23, 1896. Therapist, specializing in stuttering, founder of the Stuttering Institute in Paris.

Started as a teacher, 1844-1847. Cured a stuttering pupil and was asked to study the treatment of stuttering by the Rhone prefect from 1860. Worked with his son, the doctor and anthropologist Arthur Chervin, at Paris, founding the Institut des bègues in 1867. Succeeded by his son in 1878.
