Albany Census 1915 Cherlin (later, Chirlin) |

Source: New York State Census 1915; Albany (Stew Cherlin)
We have them listed in fact under California Chirlin line, and as the origin of that line, beginning with "Beryl Tsirlin" who adopted the name Barnet in the U.S., lived in Albany, and died there. His brother Sholom remained in Russia. One might check whether the name is clearly written in the census record as Cherlin, but it would not be at all surprising.
More precisely: we were missing Dora, Mary, Grace, and Anna in that listing, and made the connection in 2023.
The Southwestern Jewish Press has an entry in 1952 relating to a Herbert Bernard Cherlin and Max Cherlin. This appears to be in connection with a betrothal.
