Atimmigration the spelling Zirlin was used.
The Russiian version was probably close to Tsirlin.
Also of interest is the record of Uria Serlin, of Druja (Disna uyezd, Vilnius gubernia) in the 1850 census. Father Zalman. Possibly an ancestor of this line, though cyrillic Serlin does not seem to match cyrillic Tsirlin well (unless Lithuanian conventions played a role).
